Most biometrics collection service points are temporarily closed in Canada due to COVID 19 with no uncertainty when it will reopen and operate fully.
The growing inventory of PR applications cannot be finalized as applicants are unable to provide biometrics.
Some of these applicants have provided their biometric information within the last 10 years in support of claim or application or request under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
In lieu of a new biometric collection. Immigrants previously enrolled biometric can be linked to their pending or a new application for PR
Eligible applicants:
Foreign nationals are exempted from the biometric collection requirement whether inside or outside Canada if they have both:
A pending or new application for Permanent Residence
Previously provided their biometrics within the 10-year period before the day on which they made the current PR application
