The news below is another indicator of how bad the labor market in the construction industry, which is not keeping up with the rising boom of construction projects, that are being set in motion by the developers and the provincial government authorities.

It is indeed worth noting, that developers have started the projects in anticipation of completing the projects but are not able to do so for want of skilled trades workforce. As reported in the news link below, many of the leading contractors are refusing to take up new projects for not getting the right workforce to start or complete the projects.

The numbers speak for themselves, the total number of projects was supposed to be around 146,000 but only 96,000 were taken up for construction.

There are not many within Canada to enter the profession of skilled trades program, despite the Ontario government’s serious efforts to incentivize students to enter the skilled trades programs.

On the other hand, the federal government is not making an earnest effort to fulfill the demand to fill in the construction industry, despite qualified TFW applications in the pipeline, that not getting processed for various reasons.
