Testing requirements for travellers removed to make travel plans between India and Canada easier. As per the latest updates no prior RT PCR test is mandatory prior to boarding from the laboratory in the Delhi airport.
Given restrictions due to Omicron variant of COVID 19 , a negative RT PCR test can be obtained from an ICMR recognised lab fully vaccinated passengers are restricted entry into Canada though the vaccines are recognised in Canada for travel purposes. RT PCR negative test report not required anymore for passengers taking a connecting flight as they may face a random COVID 19 testing. The travel advisory for India earlier limited departure testing to a single laboratory of the company Genestrings located at New Delhi airport. The process proved to be too problematic as was too time consuming which took upto 9 hrs and the test had to be taken within 18 hrs of scheduled departure.
The previous norms stated that passengers travelling to Canada via an indirect flight route had to submit a pre-departure negative COVID 19 molecular test result from a third country before flying to Canada. The testing norms specific to India were introduced in September when Canada lifted it’s ban on direct flight between two countries imposed in April last during Delta wave in India.
