The claim by the current administration that by suspending H1B visas to the overseas workforce, will automatically create jobs to the US citizens and permeant residents, has nothing but positive effect on nearshore region workforce.
According to many industry experts, the Latin American workforce given its geographical proximity and time-zone is gaining momentum compared to previous offshore operations, where they need to have a large onsite team.
This decision by the current US administration only goes to prove that, it is largely based to appease the voter base and purely a political decision than any strategic decision to make room for jobs for the local population. And many technology companies have found a way to use the nearshore operating method to overcome the bottleneck created by suspending the H1B visas, largely used by citizens of India and followed by China.
On the contrary, the policy has proved that “limiting visas won’t limit the flow of services”. With technology companies now shifting towards nearshore operations, gives Latin American technology workforce the advantage of being close proximity to the US besides giving their close cultural affinity with the US makes the best use of President Trump’s ill-informed decision-making process.
